Sling TV has brought its cloud DVR feature to iOS devices for the first time. The streaming television service now offers iPhone and iPad viewers the ability to record TV shows and movies on most of its available channels. The Apple TV app gained the feature in April.
The service’s DVR “First Look” option costs an extra $5 per month on top of a regular Sling TV subscription and gets users 50 hours of cloud storage. Once that space has been filled, older recordings are automatically deleted to make way for new ones.
The app can be set to record a single show, or be set to record all new episodes of the show. An entire series can be downloaded, and recordings can be protected to prevent them from being deleted.
The feature appears to be available on any channel that’s not owned by Disney. Channels excluded form the DVR feature include: ABC, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney JR, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN 3, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater, ESPN Bases Loaded, Freeform, and the SEC Network.
The Sling TV service is only available in the United States. The Sling TV app is available free for iOS devices, in the App Store. [GET IT HERE]
