How To Restore the Startup Chime on the 2016 MacBook Pro

Remember how we told you this morning that the classic startup chime had been removed with the debut of the 2016 MacBook pro lineup? It turns out, it’s not removed, just disabled. Here’s how to re-enable the startup chime. (Via Pingie.com)

How To Restore the Startup Chime on the 2016 MacBook Pro
Chime loud, Chime proud!

To re-enable the classic startup chime, simply open Terminal, and enter the following:

sudo nvram BootAudio=%01

If you decide you do want to run silent, without running deep, just open Terminal again, and enter this:

sudo nvram BootAudio=%00

Remember how we also told you the new MacBook Pros also auto-boot when they’re plugged into power and you open it up? You can toggle that feature off and on too!

To turn auto-boot off, bring up Terminal and enter the following:

sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00

If you decide you want to turn auto-boot back on, enter the following into Terminal:

sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03

It should be noted that since the commands make use of “sudo” you’ll have to enter the Mac’s administrator password.
