Twitter has finally announced it has made the long-awaited changes to its Tweet character limits, allowing more room for users to express themselves when posting photos, videos, GIFs, polls, and more.

Previously, attached media took up around 24 characters of the 140 available for a Tweet. Now, users can post a fill 140 characters and still include media content, and quoted Tweets.
Twitter has said all @handles, (such as @MacTrast), wouldn’t count toward the character limit either, but at this point in time, it appears the short messaging service has held off on making that change. @handles are still currently counting toward the 140-character limit.
