Although iFixit found new gaskets and seals in the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that offer improved water resistance over previous models, a new video from IFixYouri shows why you should still not go swimming with your iPhone.

9to5Mac:

After submerging an iPhone 6s for just two minutes, the company opened it up to see how much water managed to penetrate. The short answer is: quite a lot. While the casing is far better sealed, water is still able to get through the Lightning port, microphones, headphone jack, speakers, mute switch and volume buttons …

IFixYouri says a thin piece of adhesive that is factory applied between the glass and LCD assembly and the back housing that effectively seals the top part of the phone and makes it somewhat water resistant, but not waterproof.

Long story short, while you shouldn’t take your iPhone underwater in the pool, or use it while you’re in the shower, you’ll likely be ok if you spill a drink on it, or drop it in the sink.
