Code discovered in the latest beta of iOS 9 by developer Hamza Sood indicates Apple’s upcoming “iPhone 6s” and “iPhone 6s Plus” will feature Force Touch capabilities.

Developer Hamza Sood, who has a track record of uncovering unannounced features hidden within Apple source code, was able to generate pseudo code that appears to enable deep press trackpad gestures for selecting UI text. It is thought that such capabilities will be borne out through Force Touch hardware on upcoming “iPhone 6s” models.
“Some force touch code in iOS. Looks like they’ve tested kb trackpad gestures on the 6s, activated via force touch,” Sood tweeted on Wednesday.
Previous rumors have indicated Apple would feature Force Touch capabilities in their new handsets, due to debut in September. Most reports have indicated the feature will resemble that of the Apple Watch’s pressure-sensitive input capabilities.
Apple’s next-generation handsets are expected to debut at an Apple event to be held on September 9th. The new iPhones are also expected to feature a new A9 processor, a stronger chassis made of 7000 series aluminum, an improved camera, and more.
