Apple on Tuesday seeded the fourth beta seed of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to its public beta testers, coming just short of a week following the release of the third beta seed.
Users who are enrolled in Apple’s beta testing program and who already have the public beta installed on their machines can update to today’s beta seed via the “Update” tab in the Mac App Store.
Apple seeded the sixth El Capitan developer beta seed on Monday, so it is likely that today’s public seed is identical to yesterday’s developer release. Today’s beta is likely an under-the-hood update, focused on bug fixes and performance improvements.
The release of El Capitan is intended as a refinement of OS X Yosemite, although it also offers new features, including Split View, a tweaked Mission Control, and improved built-in apps.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan is currently available to both registered developers and public beta testers. The new Mac operating system is scheduled for release to the public in the fall.
