Apple has added 7 new Flyover cities to Apple Maps, bringing the total number of Flyover cities in Apple Maps to 148. The feature allows users to view a photorealistic flyover view of cities, including the ability to zoom in on buildings and other landmarks.
The cities added to Flyover are:
- Almería, Spain
- Braga, Portugal
- Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
- Karlsruhe, Germany
- Kiel, Germany
- Kingston upon Hull, England
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
Apple offers a full list of cities where Flyover is available on their Apple’s iOS 8 feature availability page. The Flyover capability is also available in the OS X version of Apple Maps.
To use the flyover feature, start Apple Maps on your iOS device, and go to a city that has 3D flyover support. Turn on Satellite or Hybrid view, then tap the info button and choose Show 3D Map. You can now zoom in and scroll around and enjoy the 3D view of the area.
The Flyover featured debuted three years ago, and Apple has steadily added new cities to the feature ever since. There have been over 40 new cities added since December, 20 new cities were added in March alone.
