The Apple Watch has already begun showing as available for in-store Personal Pickup in the Apple Online Store for customers in Australia, the UK, and now the eastern portion of the United States.
MacTrast received a heads up from an Apple employee last night, letting us know that the Watch would be available at his store as of Wednesday morning. The source informed us that customers can go online to order at 8AM in their local time zone. No walk-in sales will be available, an appointment is a must.
As of this post (around 7:00AM CST) the only states shown as having stores with available stock are in the eastern part of the U.S.
The Reserve & Pickup system allows buyers to reserve a case and band combination online, and then go to their local Apple Store to view the selection and complete the purchase. Customers will have a limited period of time to pick up their items before they are returned to stock. Users can book only one reservation at a time.
Stock levels of each watch are unknown, but MacRumors notes that in Australia many stores appear to have a mix of Sport and Stainless Steel Apple Watches available. It’s likely that available stock in the United States will be of a similar mix.
