Consumer Reports, after subjecting the Apple Watch and 10 other smartwatch models to a battery of tests, has named the Apple Watch the top-rated smartwatch available today. There were 11 smartwatches from eight manufacturers tested, including the Asus ZenWatch, LG G Watch R, Moto 360, Pebble Steel, Samsung Gear S and Sony SmartWatch 3.
The non-profit testing organization ran the Apple Watch and its competitors through a battery of tests, Devices were tested for step count accuracy, screen readability, ease of use, scratch resistance, water resistance, heart rate tracking and more.
The stainless steel Apple Watch was the highest ranked model, offering high readability in both bright and low light, durable scratch resistance, accurate heart and steps tracking, ease of use, and water resistance.
“The stainless-steel Apple Watch passed the test on the first try. The first aluminum Apple Watch Sport we put through our immersion test seemed fine when we took it out of the tank, but we experienced problems with it 24 hours later. We then tried two more samples, which showed no problems, so the Apple Watch Sport passed our water-resistance test.”
The Sony Smartwatch 3 ranked at the bottom of the list, mostly due to two consecutive samples that didn’t function properly after being submerged for 30 minutes in 3.3 feet of water.
