It’s CES week, so companies are trying to get a jump on their competition by announcing their products before the show officially begins later this week. One such company, Parrot, who are likely best known for their drones, has announced their new RNB6 in-dash car entertainment system.
The system features a 7-inch, 720p touchscreen, and boasts support for both Apple’s CarPlay w/ Siri Eyes Free, and Android Auto w/ Android Auto Voice.
The RNB6 also includes Bluetooth 4.0, 5GHz Wi-Fi, and ports for GPS, HDMI, microphone input, ethernet, onboard diagnostics and USB devices. The in-dash system also sports a built-in dash camera with wide-angle lens and full HD support.
Parrot hasn’t announced a retail price for the RNB6, but says it will ship in the second half of 2015.
The idea of a mobile operating system agnostic in-dash system seems like one that would be attractive to users who own more than one type of mobile device, while also likely increasing the attractiveness of a vehicle when it comes time to sell it on the used market.
