If you’ve been waiting for a deal on a Pebble smartwatch, Best Buy currently has the best deal we’ve ever seen on a Pebble. The big-box electronics retailer is offering the Pebble for a mere $99.99 – down from $149.99.
While not as full featured as some smartwatches, such as offerings from Google partners, or Apple forthcoming wearable, the Pebble offers an easy to read screen, along with multiple apps that work with your iPhone or Android device to deliver alerts and wrist-based apps to the device.
This writer has owned one of these for over a year now, and I have never regretted my purchase. I hadn’t worn a watch since the release of the first iPhone, and now my wrist feels naked without the smartwatch sitting astride it.
Also available is the high-end Pebble Steel smartwatch, a metal encased, more stylish version of the plastic Pebble. The Pebble Steel is available for $199.99, down from $229.99.
Pebble recently updated their smartwatches firmware to version 2.5. The update includes:
- Added support for popular emojis, with more to come!
- Added magnetometer support, enabling compass and wayfinding apps.
- Added iOS 8 compatibility: dismissing notifications from Pebble now clears them from Notification Center on devices running iOS 8.
- Bug fixes and stability improvements.
