While we’ve seen many new keyboards for iOS 8, not many of them focus on user customization of the keyboard. Now, Ginger Keyboard is stepping in to allow users to completely customize the look and feel of their iOS 8 keyboard.
While the keyboard extension itself across iOS does not add much functionality across the system, the keyboard is integrated with the Ginger app. The Ginger app, which can be quickly accessed via a key on the keyboard across the system, includes a spell checker as well as technology to find translations, synonyms, and definitions. Like the native AppleĀ iOS keyboard, Ginger Keyboard includes a QuickType-like text prediction feature.
The Ginger developers are reportedly working on a feature to allow users to use the photo of their choice as a keyboard theme. One killer feature of the Ginger Keyboard is the ability for users to share keyboards with other Ginger Keyboard users.
The Ginger Keyboard app/keyboard should be available as a free download in the App Store around a week after the launch of iOS 8. If you’d like to be notified when the Ginger Keyboard hits the App Store, sign up at the Ginger website.
