AppleInsider:

The nation’s second-largest burger chain by store count revealed details of the upcoming program on Wednesday in an email supplied to Bloomberg. According to the note, the plan will expand the company’s e-wallet style payment service to 7,000 stores in “a few months.”

The new system sounds as if it will use features already found in Burger King’s current iOS app, which includes the BK Crown Card payment systems virtual wallet which acts as a payment and loyalty card. The system awards customers with coupons and other savings when they recharge the app with a credit card. That functionality is currently limited to the Sacramento, Reno, Baltimore and New York City areas.

The app also offers nutrition facts and a feature to locate nearby Burger King locations.

It is unclear if Burger King’s app will integrate the e-wallet functionality with Apple’s Passbook app, much like apps created by Starbucks and other retailers.
