Yoni Heisler of TUAW has compiled an exhaustive list of all the Apple references ever made in the long-time prime time animated shows The Simpsons, on the air since 1989, and Futurama, that began in 1999.
The Simpsons and Futurama have featured Apple products in various episodes more than 40 times.
Fondly remembered episodes of the comedy duo include a Futurama episode in which Bender declares the Mac better than the PC, and a ’94 episode of The Simpsons that spoofs the poor handwriting recognition of the Apple Newton
While compiling his list, Heisler has the opportunity to speak with The Simpsons writer Bill Oakley, and director David Silverman. They noted that computers on their show were often depicted as Macs because that’s what animators used in the ’90s.
