OpenEmu 1.0, the open source project designed to bring game emulation to the Mac, has officially launched. The emulator, launched after a lengthy beta, was designed from the ground up for OS X.
From the OpenEmu site, via MacRumors:
For the first time, the ‘It just works’ philosophy now extends to open source video game emulation on the Mac. With OpenEmu, it is extremely easy to add, browse, organize and with a compatible gamepad, play those favorite games (ROMs) you already own.
OpenEmu has the ability to emulate several classic consoles, including the Game Boy, GameBoy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, NeoGeo Pocket, Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo, among others.
The app offers a native OS X interface, much like iTunes, which offers the installed ROMs in a unified menu, organized by system. OpenEmu also offers full game save support, allows multiple ROMs to be played at once, and gamepad support, including Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation controller support.
OpenEmu 1.0 is available for FREE download at the OpenEmu website. [DIRECT LINK]
