Since Apple released the new Final Cut Pro X on Monday ($299, App Store Link), it’s been hit with mixed reviews. What’s concerning is that Apple reportedly (according to 9to5Mac) seems to be removing the negative reviews from the product’s App Store page.
The above image illustrates that, while many ratings have apparently been given (and reviews had shown up previously), there are mysteriously no reviews in sight! Among the chief complaints of disappointed downloaders are Final Cut Pro X’s inability to open files from previous versions of Final Cut Pro, and having a reduced number of features from the previous version.
The reviews panel within the Mac App Store has seen some very unhappy and critical reviews of the app, so it makes one’s mind wander to all kinds of interesting places when all that hate magically vanishes.
The reviews have since started re-appearing for some people, but my interest in why they ever disappeared in the first place has nevertheless been seriously piqued. Apple has refused to provide any statements on the incident.
