Jailbreak legend Comex, famous for creating the original browser-based iOS jailbreak, has done it again! Following up on a recent teaser posted to his Twitter account, Comex has confirmed that his upcoming jailbreak will with all iOS devices running versions up to iOS 4.3.3.
While the new jailbreak isn’t live yet (and hasn’t been given a release date), Comex has been active on Twitter, and revealed this juicy tidbit in response to a fan’s question about JailBreakMe’s support for iPad 2. Here’s the exchange:
@comex can u maybe alert everyone as to which iOS version this upcoming release will work on?? (ipad 2 btw) currently mines on 4.3.1….
To which Comex replied:
@J_mac890 4.2.1-4.3.3
This confirms that the new jailbreak will indeed work with the iPad 2, as well as being compatible with versions if the iOS firmware ranging from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3. No word was given regarding iOS 5 compatibility, but that doesn’t really surprise me, as Comes likely wouldn’t want to lay his cards out on the table too early. I’d expect the jailbreak to work with iOS 5, but the truth of the matter remains to be seen.
We won’t know everything until JailBreakMe 3.0 goes live, so until then, we’re all just going to have to be patient and wait this out.
Are you planning on jailbreaking your iPad 2 when this goes live? Let us know in the comments!
