Today is the second birthday of Siri – Apple’s virtual personal assistant that’s been built into iOS since “her” introduction on the iPhone 4S alongside iOS 5.
As you can see in the screenshots above, Siri is a little wishy-washy on birthdays, but go ahead and wish her a happy birthday the next time you talk to her anyway.
The name Siri is Norwegian, and means “beautiful woman who leads you to victory”, and comes from the intended name for the original developer’s first child. (Wikipedia)
Siri was originally introduced as an iOS application available in the App Store by Siri, Inc., which Apple acquired on April 28, 2010.
Siri was introduced as a part of iOS with the debut of iOS 5. She was first supported only on the iPhone 4S, but is now available on the 4S, the iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c. She was also added to the iPad (3rd-generation and higher) with the advent of iOS 6, and can also be found on the 5th-generation iPod touch, and the iPad mini.
Be gentle with Siri, as she may have been celebrating a bit too much today. Go home Siri, you’re drunk!
