In what might be the final nail in the coffin for Windows RT, Business Insider reports that Microsoft is now the only company still producing hardware for the platform.
Julie Bort, writing for Business Insider:
Dell has currently stopped selling its XPS 10 Windows RT tablet and it’s not clear yet if Dell has permanently dropped the device or if it will announce a new model next month.
That leaves Microsoft as the only company making a RT device.
What the heck does that mean for Microsoft and Windows 8?
Nothing positive, I assure you. It’s sad that all of Microsoft’s manufacturing partners dropped out of making Windows RT device in the course of just a year or so. Microsoft themselves lost a small fortune ($900M) on their own Surface RT device. No wonder Steve Ballmer retired!
