According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s retail VP Ron Johnson is leaving Apple to become the president of J.C. Penney, and eventually the CEO. Johnson, who joined Apple in 2000, made great contributions to the retail program.
Ron Johnson is a face many Apple fans would recognize, having appeared in many videos and media materials for Apple as he represented their retail division. Johnson will succeed the current leader of J.C. Penney, Myron Ullman, after having previously worked as VP of Merchandising for Target before coming to Apple.
J.C. Penney has confirmed the news, as well as Apple, and there’s no doubt that this will be a big move for Ron Johnson. I hope he is successful in his new ventures, but most importantly, I hope that Apple can quickly find a suitable replacement to fill his rather large shoes.
Check out the video clip below, iPad: Year One, in which Ron Johnson talks about the amazing success of the iPad.
