To be filed under: “WTH? It didn’t already do that?” The Yelp iOS app has been updated, and Version 2.0 of the app allows users to… Are you ready for this… Post reviews directly from the mobile app!
From the Yelp App Store page:
Today’s release is pretty epic, and we’re not kidding around. Are you sitting down? You might want to sit down. Starting today, you can add reviews from your phone! Visit any business page, tap “add review”, and go bananas.
Well, at least it seems like they know it’s pretty ridiculous that the app couldn’t do that in previous versions.
Up until today’s update, if you wanted to leave a review of a business, you could type out a draft in the Yelp app, but all you could do was save it as a draft to your Yelp account. You would then have to go to your Yelp account via the web browser on your computer to actually post said review. WHEW! Now I remember why I never posted a review!
Here’s hoping it will lead to more reviews. Especially the drunken reviews of watering holes. “The Dew Drop Inn sucks! They cut you off after just 10 tequila shots! I offered to pay for the repairs to the mirror behind the bar, but they still kicked me out!”
Yelp is available FREE for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
