It seems that a July refresh for the super-thin MacBook Air has become extremely likely. Our source reports that Apple has ordered 400,000 Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt enabled MacBook Airs to be built this month, to be ready for a July launch.
The order consists of both the 11.6-inch and the 13.3-inch versions of the Air – about 200K of each. Also noted in the report is that Apple will stop making the previous generation of MacBook Air, having ordered the last 80,000 units this month.
The MacBook Air is a super-thin and super-light beast of a computer, and with the enhancements that Sandy Bridge will bring to the table, it’s about to become a lot more powerful as well.
Anyone in the market for a MacBook Air? My advice is to wait for the new one to be released. Even if you aren’t planning on getting one of the new models, the previous generation will be sold much cheaper as refurbished units. Your thoughts? Sound off in the comments!
