Our source reports that Apple’s social integration in iOS 5 will feature much more than Twitter (which was revealed at the WWDC 2011 keynote), and has found evidence within the developer beta to suggest that additional integration, such as with FaceBook, LinkedIn, and Flickr, might also be included.

The contact information page in the iOS 5 address book has a field not just for Twitter, but also offers space to add friends’ handles on Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn and Myspace. Alongside a person’s email address and phone number, an iOS user can also add links to their accounts around the Web. Then Apple auto-populates the URL for each of the services. Clicking on the account name opens up Safari to that person’s profile page. In addition to four additional social networks, iOS 5 contact cards also include an option to add custom service by pasting a profile URL.
This is an interesting discovery (documented by the screenshot above), and if it’s legitimate, and makes it to the final version, I’ll be a very happy camper – but do keep in mind that just because something like this was found in a developer beta does not necessarily mean that it will show up in the final version of iOS 5. It’s also possible that these are just fields for the Address Book app for adding social media information to their contact on your iDevice. Only time will tell.
