Google has updated Chrome to version 12 which provides more security and GPU-assisted hardware acceleration in OS X Snow Leopard and above.

From the Chrome Blog:

Chrome now warns you before downloading some types of malicious files [and now] includes support for hardware-accelerated 3D CSS, which means you’ll get a snazzier experience in some web pages and web apps that choose to implement 3D effects.

Speaking of browser security, if you’re using Safari, be sure to de-select “open ‘safe’ files after downloading” to be absolutely certain you don’t fall victim to the increasing number of malware attacks aimed at Apple users. This will make Safari a little less convenient, but it is well worth the extra step required view a PDF or mount a .dmg file.

Google has launched a page to showcase the browser’s capabilities which features clips from Shaun the Sheep, Aardman Studio’s popular claymation critter. Fire up Chrome in OS X Snow Leopard to check out the cool Shaun the Sheep site.
