Xiaomi Files Trademarks for Apple Silicon-Like Family of Custom Chips

An Xiaomi trademark filing for a second-generation custom chip called the “XRING 02,” indicates the company is moving ahead with its in-house silicon production, following in Apple’s footsteps in transitioning to its own custom chips.

MacRumors reports the new filing, which was first reported by Wccftech and verified via China’s TianYanCha trademark database, indicates that Xiaomi is moving forward with its development of the XRING 02 system-on-a-chip (SoC).

The company earlier this year announced the XRING O1, its first custom processor built with a 3-nanometer process, which was first used in the Xiaomi Tablet 7 Ultra.

Xiaomi is open about its intentions to follow in Apple’s footsteps, using its own silicon in its devices across the company’s ecosystem.

We also want to become one of the top chipmakers, with our phones targeting iPhones, can our chips also be compared against those of Apple’s?

In addition to the new XRING 02 trademark, the company has made several other filings in recent weeks. Others include the XRING T1 and XRING 0.
