iPhones, Macs, and Other Apple Devices Get an Exemption From U.S. President Trump’s Tariffs

iPhones, Macs, and Other Apple Devices Get an Exemption From U.S. President Trump’s Tariffs

Apple and other electronics companies have received a break from United States President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs, as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has shared an extensive list of products that have been excluded from the duties.

iPhones, Macs, iPads, Apple Watch, HomePods, AirPods, and other Apple devices and accessories will not be subject to the 125% tariffs that have been put in place on imported Chinese goods. Apple will also be exempt from paying 10% reciprocal tariffs that are in place for items from other countries.

All manner of electronic devices have been exempted from tariffs, including computer components such as SSDs, displays, several televisions, semiconductors, GPUs, and more. However, some electronic devices, including video game consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2 are still subject to the tariffs.

As pointed out by a Bloomberg report, the exemptions could be merely temporary and the Trump administration could have put the exemptions in place to allow for planning new, lower tariffs on electronics and other goods from China. Companies will not be exempt from the 20 percent “fentanyl” fee imposed on China.
