Instagram has released Edits, a video editing app that is designed to provide some of the same features as the ByteDance-owned CapCut app that was removed from the App Store earlier this year. Edits is intended for use by creators, and it can be used with Instagram, as well as other social media apps like TikTok.
The CapCut app was removed from the App Store alongside the TikTok app and other ByteDance-owned apps, and while TikTOk has returned to the store, CapCut has not.
Instagram announced that it was working on Edits soon after CapCuts was removed from the App Store, but has taken quite a few months to get the app ready for prime time.
Edits offers a full suite of video creation tools, allowing creators to film videos, edit them, and add effects, including AI-powered animations and cutouts. The app also allows users to keep track of content ideas, manage projects, and export content.
Make videos you’re proud to share with Edits, the new video creation app from Instagram.
