Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says Apple is planning to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its iPhone with a “bold” 2027 iPhone Pro redesign.
Gurman’s comments came in his latest Power On newsletter. Gurman says that Apple plans to launch a foldable iPhone alongside a “bold” new iPhone Pro model that makes more extensive use of glass.
While the actual design of the 20th anniversary iPhone Pro will need to go a long way to have the impact that Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone had. The iPhone X dropped the Home Button and Touch ID in favor of a total touch system and Face ID facial authentication.
As for the model number of a 20th anniversary iPhone, Apple could go two ways. If Apple continues its annual release pattern and numerical naming, the iPhone 19 series will likely be part of the 2027 lineup.
However, Apple has “jumped” a model number in the past. For the debut of the 10th anniversary iPhone, Apple skipped the iPhone 9 moniker, jumping from iPhone 8 to iPhone X.
