Apple Intelligence and a New Interface Might be Coming to watchOS 12, But Don’t Hold Your Breath!

Apple Intelligence and a New Interface Might be Coming to watchOS 12, But Don’t Hold Your Breath!

We’ve seen plenty of rumors about what we can expect to see when Apple unveils iOS 19 in June, but what about the Apple Watch and watchOS 12? A new report claims Apple has some big plans for the next version of watchOS, including a revamped interface and Apple Intelligence features.

According to The Verifier, Apple will bring some of the elements of the visionOS interface to watchOS 12, just like it is expected to bring to iOS 19. While iOS 19 is expected to boast a new interface with more shadows, depth, and glass-like elements, the watchOS 12 changes are said to be more subtle, focusing on buttons, icons, and menus.

While we’ll have to wait and see what Apple reveals in June at WWDC 2025, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said that Apple wants to make its operating systems more consistent across its devices, so an interface for watchOS seems logical.

In addition to a revamped interface, the report also claims Apple will bring some Apple intelligence features to watchOS 12. The report mentions such features as a better way to view notification summaries, a new Siri experience (which is hopefully not limited to a glowing border around the device’s screen), and the ability to create Genmoji on your wrist.

Unfortunately for current Apple Watch users, any Apple Intelligence features for the Apple Watch could be limited to the new Apple Watch models that will likely be unveiled in September alongside the new iPhone lineup. Apple Intelligence currently requires 8GB of RAM on a device, so users may need to buy a new Watch come fall.

The Verifier has a mixed track record on rumors like these, so in addition to not holding your breath, you should also take this report with a grain of your favorite salt-free seasoning.
