Bloomberg’s Gurman Says ‘iPhone 17 Air’ to Start at $899, Surprising Battery Life, More

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has shared new details about Apple’s much-rumored “iPhone 17 Air.” In his weekend Power On newsletter, Gurman said his sources tell him that the new handset may start at roughly $899 in the U.S., occupying the same price point as the iPhone 16 Plus. The device has been widely rumored as a replacement for the Plus in the iPhone lineup going forward.

Gurman says that while the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have an ultra-thin and lightweight design, the 17 Air will offer battery life “on par with current iPhones,” although he did not mention any specific models.

Gurman says Apple’s ability to optimize both software and hardware will make the iPhone 17 Air more power efficient. Other rumored features that could contribute to an impressive battery life for the iPhone 17 Air. A higher-density battery, the power-sipping C1 modem, and no Ultra Wide camera (providing additional internal space for a larger battery) could all contribute.

Gurman said the iPhone 17 Air will have the Camera Control button that debuted on all iPhone 16 models last year.

He also noted that the iPhone 17 Air’s bezels will be approximately as thin as the ones surrounding the screen on the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Gurman also mentioned several previously rumored features, including a 6.6-inch display with 120Hz ProMotion support, a Dynamic Island, a standard A19 chip instead of an A19 Pro chip, and more.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch in September.
