Apple’s new lowest-priced iPad, which was released this week, is powered by an A16 chip, which is apparently powerful enough to run Final Cut Pro for iPad, according to the video editing app’s App Store page. (Via MacRumors)
In the compatibility section of the Final Cut Pro for iPad app page, it has been updated to say, “Requires iPadOS 17.6 or later and a device with an M-series or A16 or later chip.”
Before this week’s release of the $349 iPad, the lowest-priced iPad that was able to handle Final Cut Pro was the A17 Pro-powered iPad mini, which starts at $499. As pointed out by MacRumors, the new iPad is both cheaper and provides more screen space for video editing than the mini.
The new iPads ability to run Final Cut Pro offers budding video editors a more reasonably-priced way to use Final Cut Pro. Users on a budget can also take advantage of Apple’s $4.99 per month or $49.00 per year subscription fee for access to the app.
Keep in mind that while the entry-level iPad can run Final Cut Pro, some advanced features and functions of the app require an iPad with a more powerful chip.
