Following the release of the season two finale of popular Apple TV+ series “Severance,” Apple has announced that the show has been officially renewed for a third season.
The announcement came in a press release, in which Apple said that the show broke records, making it the most watched series on Apple TV+. Severance follows “severed” employees at a mysterious corporation who undergo a procedure to surgically divide their work memories from their personal ones, creating two separate, “innie and outie” consciousnesses. The story follows the four employees as they begin to uncover the truths behind the company, revealing the toll these split identities have taken on them.
The series comes from executive producer and director Ben Stiller and stars Emmy Award nominee Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken, and Emmy and Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette.
“Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” said executive producer and director Ben Stiller. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team,” said star and executive producer Adam Scott. “Oh hey also — not a huge deal — but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”
Apple has not yet announce a specific release date for season three. Hopefully, the time between seasons won’t be as long as the delay between the first and second seasons, which was nearly three years long. The complete first and second seasons of Severance are now streaming globally on Apple TV+.
