Apple is once again automatically enabling Apple Intelligence on users’ devices when they update to the latest version of iOS. iPhone users that have installed iOS 18.3.2 have noticed that Apple Intelligence has automatically turned on, even if it was turned off prior to the update being installed.
Users report that they see an Apple Intelligence splash screen after updating, and report that there is no option other than tapping “Continue,” which enables Apple Intelligence.
So, if you wish to ensure that Apple Intelligence remains disabled on your device, verify your settings as follows: Go to: “Settings” (“System Settings” on the Mac) → “Apple Intelligence & Siri.”
For many users, they want Apple Intelligence disabled due to privacy concerns, while others can’t spare the up to 7GB of storage space that Apple Intelligence takes up on their device’s storage.
The issue can also affect iPadOS and macOS devices, so be sure to check your Apple Intelligence settings on your iPad or Mac after updating to iOS 18.3.2.
