Norwegian web browser company Opera has integrated Slack, Discord, and Bluesky into the sidebar of its Opera One desktop browser. The company announced on Tuesday that the integration provides quick access to the services without the need to launch their apps or opening them in a separate tab.
The services join existing integrations for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram. To enable access to the platforms in the browser’s sidebar, Opera users will need to update to the latest version – or download it here.
The integration of these platforms in the sidebar further minimizes the amount of tabs and apps users need to have open at once when using their laptop or PC, and makes the Opera browser the central hub for their computer.
After updating, users merely have to click the three dots menu at the bottom of the sidebar to open the Sidebar Setup Menu. Discord, Slack, and Bluesky can be found under the “Messengers” category.
“We’re constantly looking at the feedback our users provide underneath our blog posts, on Opera forums, and through social media. Whether you’re working with your team on Slack, chatting with your friends on Discord, or keeping in touch with your community via BlueSky, we want you to be able to do that directly from Opera,” said Joanna Czajka, Product Director at Opera.
Opera One uses a modular design designed to adapt to the user’s needs. The browser also includes a built-in ad blocker, free VPN, and customizable dynamic themes with animations and soundscapes. The latest Opera One update adds two new themes: Interstellar and Metamorphic.
The Opera One browser is available as a free download from the Opera website.
