Nope, Netflix Isn’t Adding Apple TV Integration

Earlier today, we reported that certain Netflix shows have begun being listed in the TV app’s “Continue Watching” queue, indicating that Netflix was finally rolling out Apple TV integration. It is not.

Apparently, Netflix’s content showing up in the TV app interface was a bug, not a new feature. Netflix is not introducing additional functionality on the Apple TV.

A Netflix spokesperson told The Verge that temporary support for the Continue Watching feature was an error, and that it has been rolled back.

Apple designed its TV app to act as a one-stop hub for all content on Apple TV set-top boxes. Since tvOS 13, a press of the Home button on the Siri Remote has defaulted to opening the TV app.

While many streaming services have opted to have their content included in the Watchlist and Continue Watching queues, Netflix has stood on the sidelines, meaning viewers have had to leave the Apple TV app to open the Netflix app to see what’s new or coming next. That will continue to be the case.
