It was announced in November that popular image editor developer Pixelmator was being acquired by Apple, pending regulatory approval. Apple has received that approval and on Tuesday the company confirmed the acquisition is now complete. The splash screen for the Pixelmator for iOS, Pixelmator Pro, and Photomator apps were today updated to announce the deal.
Pixelmator Pro is a popular Mac image editor, offering over 50 image editing tools, allowing users to create designs, edit photos, draw illustrations, paint digital paintings, and more. Pixelmator Pro has won multiple awards, including the Mac App of the Year awarded by Apple, and is one of the best-rated apps on the Mac App Store.

In the original press release announcing the acquisition, Pixelmator assured its users that there would be no immediate changes to the Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps, but to “stay tuned for exciting updates to come.”
Apple could eventually integrate the apps and their features into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, but for now, they will remain available separately in the App Store.
