These Two Key Upgrades Will Bring Apple Intelligence to Entry-Level iPad

Apple’s next entry-level iPad will offer Apple Intelligence support, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

Gurman‘s comments came in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. Gurman said the 11th-generation iPad will boast two upgrades that enable Apple Intelligence, including an A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM.

The new entry-level iPads — J481 and J482 — will get faster processors and Apple Intelligence. The current models have the A14 chip and 4 gigabytes of memory. Look for the new versions to have the A17 Pro chip, matching the iPad mini, and a bump to 8 gigabytes of memory. That’s the minimum needed to support the new AI platform.

Gurman expects the iPad 11 models to hit shelves this “spring,” so a March or April launch is likely.

iPad 11 models are not expected to have any major external design changes from the iPad 10.

Once the iPad 11 is released, all current-generation iPads will offer Apple Intelligence compatibility.

Gurman also expects Apple to give its 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models a spec bump this spring, likely to the M4 chip. He also expects to see Apple release updated Magic Keyboards for the iPad 11 and new iPad Airs.
