Marvel Snap Once Again Available in U.S. App Store

Collectible card game Marvel Snap has returned to the Apple App Store. The popular game had been removed from the App Store, as it was published by TikTok parent company ByteDance. TikTok and all other ByteDance-owned apps were removed from the App Store when a federal law banning ByteDance apps in the United States took effect on January 19.

Marvel Snap creators Second Dinner said last week, the developers began working to get the app returned to the App Store and partner with a new publisher.

The game came back online on January 20. Second Dinner has not yet provided any details about the situation or a possible deal with a new publisher. Best of all for the game’s fans, Apple removed Marvel Snap from its list of ByteDance apps that are not currently available in the U.S. App Store.

Marvel Snap player in the United States are being rewarded with extra experience and in-game rewards.

The January 19 TikTok ban has also resulted in several other apps distributed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries being ejected from the App Store, including:

  • TikTok
  • TikTok Studio
  • TikTok Shop Seller Center
  • CapCut
  • Lemon8
  • Hypic
  • Lark – Team Collaboration
  • Lark – Rooms Display
  • Lark Rooms Controller
  • Gauth: AI Study Companion

U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Justice to delay any enforcement of the law for 90 days.

However, Apple is still required by the law to not offer the apps, and doing so would be a violation of the federal law, meaning Apple could face punishment when Trump’s 90-day delay has expired.

ByteDance is required to sell TikTok to an U.S.-based company. President Trump says he is discussing a possible sale of TikTok with several candidates. Rumors have indicated that Oracle and a group of investors could take over the app, as is Microsoft, once the app is sold to an American firm it will return to the U.S. App Store.
