Apple is aiming to release an new iPhone SE and new iPads “by April,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman’s comments came via a social media post.
Yes, the new iPads and iPhone SE replacement are being developed on the iOS 18.3 train – but that doesn’t mean they launch together this month. It means they’ll launch before iOS 18.4, by April if all goes to plan. https://t.co/qaMSH1ImSW

Gurman said that while an iPhone SE replacement and new iPads are “being developed on the iOS 18.3 train,” but that “doesn’t mean” the software updates and the devices will launch simultaneously. Instead, Gurman said Apple is aiming to release the devices “by April,” at some point “before iOS 18.4” is released.
Gurman’s comments came following a claim by a private account on X with a track record of leaking accurate iOS-related information that said devices codenamed “V59” and “J481” will be released alongside iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3. Gurman had previously confirmed that “V59” is a new iPhone SE, and that “J481” is a new base model iPad.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a USB-C port and Face ID, replacing the Touch ID Home button and the Lightning port the current iPhone SE is equipped with.
The fourth-generation iPhone SE’s display is said to considerably increase in size, from the current 4.7 inches to 6.06 inches, and will also feature an OLED display panel for the first time. The new iPhone SE4 is also expected to be powered by the same A18 chip as the iPhone 16 lineup. The handset is expected to include 6GB to 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, an aluminum chassis, and a single rear 48-megapixel camera.
The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to carry a price tag of $499 to $549. The current iPhone SE debuted in March 2022 and carried a $429 price tag.
The iPad 11 is expected to offer support for Apple Intelligence, means it will also boast a newer A-series chip, and an increased 8GB of RAM, to power those features. No other major design changes have been rumored for the device. Apple announced the iPad 10 in October 2022.
Gurman has also recently said that new MacBook Air models would be announced before the release of the new iPhone SE and iPad 11, so we may see the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air receive their much-rumored upgrade to the M4 chip in the near future.
