YouTube TV Subscribers to be Hit With Major Price Hike in January

YouTube on Thursday told YouTube TV subscribers that a large price increase is on the way, starting in January 2025. Starting on January 13, 2025, YouTube TV will cost $82.99 per month for the base plan, up from $72.99 per month. YouTube TV is YouTube’s live television subscription offering that shows live TV programming.

YouTube says the price increase is so that it can “keep up with the rising cost of content” and investments in the quality of its service. YouTube says it is working to bring new features, like unlimited DVR storage and multiview, to customers.

YouTube TV subscribers will see their YouTube TV Base Plan subscription prices go up in their first billing cycle on or after January 13, 2025. Customers that are on a trial or a promotional price for the Base Plan will have the promotion honored with no changes.

The base viewing plan will now cost $82.99, subscribers can also add on 4K viewing for an extra $9.99 per month, premium channels start at $1.99 per month. NFL fans can add NFL RedZone for an additional $10.99 per month, Spanish TV for $14.99 per month, and Max, Paramount+, Showtime, and Starz go for $29.99 per month.

YouTube first launched in 2018, and at launch, it was priced at a reasonable $35 per month. However, the price jumped to $50 per month in 2019. The price was hiked again to $64.99 in 2020, again rising in 2023 to $72.99 per month.
