Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro, powered by a next-generation M5 processor, will begin mass production during the second half of 2025, according to Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple’s current M4-powered iPad Pro was released in May 2024
Kuo’s comments came in a recent Medium post, where he said China’s BYD Electronics will be the primary assembler of the M5 iPad Pro. The same company will also be the exclusive assembler of Apple’s upcoming display-equipped HomePod, which is expected to see a 2025 release.
Apple reportedly has already ordered M5 chips from TSMC. The M5 is expected to feature a much-improved ARM architecture and is expected to use TSMC’s advanced 3-nanometer process technology. While the chip was expected by some to use TSMC’s more advanced 2nm process for the M5 chip, it is believed that Apple decided to not use the process for the M5 due to cost considerations.
Other than the move to M5 Apple Silicon, we haven’t seen much in the way of reports on other possible new features for the M5 iPad Pro, but stay tuned.
