If you’d like to make your Mac desktop a bit more festive for the holidays, check out developer Simon Støvring’s Festivitas, an easy-to-use macOS app that allows you to customize your Mac desktop with colorful strings of lights.
Festivitas automatically adds festive lights to your menu bar and dock upon launch and you can tweak their appearance to match your preferences.
Light size, distance, cable thickness, colors, and the light changing sequence can all be customized.
When you first launch Festivitas, the app will request access to accessibility features. Festivitas needs this permission to locate the dock on your screen and decorate it with festive lights.
You can enable or disable this permission anytime in “System Settings” → “Privacy & Security” → “Accessibility.”
Festivitas is compatible with Macs running macOS 14.6 and later, and it can be purchased for four euros, which is equivalent to approximately $4.23 USD.
