Apple released iOS 18.1, and as is traditional, it has now stopped signing iOS 18.0.1, making downgrading to that version of iOS no longer possible. iOS 18.1 is now the only publicly released version of iOS available.
The iOS 18.1 software can be downloaded on compatible devices over the air by going to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update.”
iOS 18.1 was released on October 31 and added the first set of Apple Intelligence tools, including Writing Tools, Resume, and Clean Up in the Photos app. iOS 18.1 also fixed several security holes, including a vulnerability in Siri that allowed attackers to access sensitive user data.
While falling back to an older iOS version is often used by users who jailbreak their iPhones, it can also be helpful for users who experience significant bugs after upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
