iOS 18.2 Could Be Laying Groundwork to Show How Long It Will Take to Charge Your iPhone

Code found in the latest iOS 18.2 beta by 9to5Mac references a new battery charging feature for the iPhone that will show how long it will take for your iPhone’s battery to reach a full charge.

The code references a new “BatteryIntelligence” framework that appears to allow the system to calculate estimated charging completion times. While the feature has not yet been enabled in the beta, Apple may implement it in the public release, allowing iOS 18.2 to notify iPhone users about how long it will take their device to reach a specific charge level.

The new battery charging feature may not see a public release in iOS 18.2, it may come later, if at all. Apple often buries code for new features in betas, and some of the indicated features do not ever make it into production.

Apple is currently seeding iOS 18.2 betas to developers for testing in preparation for a planned early December release.
