Apple seeded the third betas of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 to developers on Monday, and a small number of changes have been discovered in the new betas. Apple has confirmed that the update will be released to the public in December.
While iOS 18.2 is compatible with the iPhone XS series and newer, Apple Intelligence features require an iPhone 15 Pro or any iPhone 16. A iPad with an M-series processor is require for Apple Intelligence features in iPadOS 18.2.
iOS 18 debuted a completely redesigned Photos app on the iPhone. However, not all of the app’s changes were well appreciated. The third beta of iOS 18.2 fixes one of the irritations in the Photos app. The new beta brings a tweaked video player that takes up more screen real estate, eliminating the thick borders around videos on previous iOS 18 versions, meaning users no longer have to tap on a video to view full-screen playback.
iPhone 16 users will find a new setting for the Camera Control button in iOS 18.2 beta 3. A new toggle for “Require Screen On” is now in the Settings app under Display & Brightness. With this setting enabled, you can only launch the Camera app or a supported third-party camera app with the Camera Control button when the iPhone’s screen is turned on.
iOS 18.2 beta 3 brings redesigned icons for the new “Climate” and “Media” apps that will be available on next-generation CarPlay, which according to Apple’s website will be in 2024.
iPadOS 18.2 beta 3 brings a customizable navigation bar in the TV app.
