Apple currently has “no concrete plans” to update the AirPods Max over-the-ear headphones again “in a meaningful way,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Admittedly, this doesn’t come as a big shock, as the headphones were most recently updated in September.
“I expect the company to keep the Max headphones around for the foreseeable future in their current form,” he added.
In September, the Apple’s AirPods Max were updated with USB-C charging capabilities and new color options, including midnight, starlight, blue, orange, and purple.
The headphones did not receive Apple’s H2 chip in the update, so it lacks Adaptive Audio features, and it didn’t receive any extra active noise cancellation love.
Gurman says AirPods Max sales are too slow for Apple to justify allocating additional development resources to the headphones.
