Supply Chain Reports Indicate M4 MacBook Pro Production Is Well Underway

Apple is expected to announce a new M4 MacBook Pro by the end of the month and supply chain reports appear to back this up. Revenue and shipment reports from three Mac component supplier indicate that production of the new laptops is well underway.

Digitimes reports that key Mac assembler Compaq significantly increased production in September, which would make sense for an October or November launch. Also, two Mac component suppliers reported increased revenue last month.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported back in the summer that the launch schedule for M4 Macs would bring new MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini models “later this year, ” while we’ll see new MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro models in 2025

Since then, Gurman has been a bit more specific about the new Mac release schedule, saying the new machines would go on sale on November 1st.

While Gurman also mentioned that Apple would hold a media event during October which would also include the iPad mini, Apple instead this week announced the new iPad mini in a press release. This makes the possibility of an October event less certain.
