The first new Apple Intelligence features included in the recent iOS 18.1 update is driving iPhone users to update to the new software, according to Apple CEO Tim Cook, in an interview earlier today with CNBC. Cook says iPhone users are downloading and installing iOS 18.1 at twice the adoption rate of iOS 17.1 during the same timeframe last year.
Apple has not released any specific installation figures for the iOS 18 update, making this the first peek we’ve had into the iOS 18 adoption numbers and how they compare to iOS 17.
iOS 18.1 was released on Monday, bringing the first Apple Intelligence features to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 lineup. The new release brings several new Apple intelligence features, including Writing Tools, new features for Siri, including a new look and feel as well as Type to Siri, message and email summaries, a Photos “clean up” tool, and more.
Apple will release iOS 18.2 in December, which should continue to drive even more adoption of the new version of iOS, as it will include other new Apple Intelligence features, such as Genmoji and Image Playground.
