Apple today seeded the second release candidate of macOS Sequoia 15.1 to developers and public beta testers to allow them to continue testing Apple Intelligence features before the update is released to the public. Apple seeded the first release candidate on Monday, and this is likely a new version to address a previously undiscovered bug.
The developer build of macOS Sequoia 15.1 can be downloaded by developers through the Apple Developer Center and once the correct profile is installed, succeeding betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences. Apple Intelligence features are available only on Macs powered by an M1 chip or higher.
Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s beta testing program can download the macOS Sequoia 15.1 release candidate by opening the Settings app, going to “General,” then “Software Update,” section and turning on the Public Beta option.
macOS Sequoia 15.1 introduces the first Apple Intelligence features for the Mac, bringing support for Writing Tools, Siri improvements, Priority messages in the Mail app, Smart Replies in Mail and Messages, Memory Movie and Clean Up in Photos, and more.
Using Apple Intelligence features requires a Mac powered by an Apple silicon chip.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas or release candidates on their daily driver Mac. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
