Apple Releases iPadOS 18.0.1 to Ready for Tomorrow’s iPad Mini 7 Launch

Apple today released a new version of its iPadOS 18.0.1 update intended only for use on the iPad mini 7, which will hit shelves on Wednesday.

While the new iPadOS 18.0.1 update features the same content as the previous iPadOS 18.0.1 update that was released earlier this month, it carries a new build number, 22A8380. Customers who pre-ordered the new iPad mini will also begin receiving their new precious on Wednesday and the update will be available during the setup process.

Launch versions of the ‌iPad mini 7‌ have a version of iOS 18.0 installed rather than iPadOS 18.0.1, which is why there’s an immediate out-of-the-box update available.

The iOS 18.0.1 update included fixes several bugs, including issues with the device’s touch screen, camera, and Messages app.

Apple’s release notes for the iOS 18.0.1 update:

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone including: – Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
– Camera may freeze when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro models
– Messages may unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face

Performance may be impacted due to an issue with memory allocation on some iPhone models. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/100100

iPadOS 18.0.1 also includes a fix for an issue that could cause an iPad to unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face, as well as a security fix to address a vulnerability with the Passwords app.

iPad mini 7‌ owners will also be able to upgrade to iPadOS 18.1 next week, which includes the first Apple Intelligence features.
